SMALL TRADE COMPANY

was founded in 2010 by designer and creative director Matt Dick based in San Francisco, CA. Small trade company is a meditation on making creating collections inspired by people and time, traveled, timeless and rooted in function silhouettes and using materials that represent the spirit and the story of the maker. They intend to create something to keep and inherit.

Matt's strong background in studying textiles at the California college of the Arts and apprenticeship in indigo dye technique in Japan with master Nakajima Yasuo has given him the tools and inspiration to start up and take this project further.

THIS WEEKEND I decided to go back in time on Céline's history and my obsession for this woman - Phoebe Philo. Is such an impressive work she has done for the brand in just 4 years. Since she started in September 2010, after a break in her career, she has made our delight and has turn Céline into the most desirable and expected catwalk show at every season's Fashion Weeks. One of the most interesting articles on her take over on the french house was out on Gentlewoman Spring/Summer 2010 issue. Here she tells us all the details on this new career change, the plans for the future of the brand and some confessions and thoughts.
